John A. Harris wasborn to LouiseMiller and JohnHarris in FortWorth, Texas onFebruary 13, 1937.John, age 82,passed away onFebruary 11, 2020at the University ofMaryland Hospital.

He was the husband of Melinda Harris. They shared32 years together.

When John was 16 years old he joined the UnitedStates Mainie Corps. He was a steward (cook) in themilitary. Shortly after his honorable discharge fromthe Marine Corps, John worked as a chef andmarried Christine. From that union Melanie Harriswas born. John later met and married Melinda Reddand from that union Juanita Harris was born. They

were together until his death. John studied carpentryat Kiewit & Sons, Inc., and was a member of theWashington, DC United Brotherhood of Carpentersand Joiners of Americas (UBC). Johnloved to cook,talk and do gardening.He, also, loved to discuss the bible and numerousother topics of his interest. John made friendswherever he went.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Harris; hischildren, Melanie and Juanita; grandchildren, :Azizat, Aziz and Aisha; step children, Kevin,Melissa, Jarrod and ; several step grandchildren and step grand children and ahost ofother relatives and will be sorely missedby all who knew him.
