John Jackson, Jr.
born on February 4, 1938 in Baltimore,
MD, he transitioned to be with the Lord on Wednesday,
August 29, 2018 at the Union Memorial Hospital.
John Jackson, Jr., also called "Jackie" was born to the late
John Jackson, Sr. and Beatrice Jackson of Baltimore, MD.
Jackie attended Baltimore City Public Schools. He served
honorably with valor in the United States Army. Upon
Jackie's return to civilian life, he served in the United States
Army Reserves until he retired with over 20 years of honor-
able service. He was also a faithful member of the 231 st
Transportation Truck Battalion, Inc. After 30 years of dedi-
cated service Jackie retired as a Steel Worker with Kaydon
Ring and Steel, Inc.
He married the love of his life Iris Jo Heigler in October,
1972. They were united in marriage for 46 years.
Jackie was a man with a cool demeanor, warm spirit, and a
wonderful sense of humor that many people fell in love
with. He would often go hunting and fishing, but he was also
known as the couch potato King. Jackie would sit for hours
watching his beloved old western movies. He always had a
story to tell. His creative and vivid imagination always kept
everyone, laughing. He was the life of the party. Jackie
loved baked ham, a slice of ham was his best friend.
Jackie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and
friend. He leaves to cherish his memories; his devoted and
loving wife, Iris Jo Jackson; children, Jacqueline Manley,
Gregory Jackson, Edward Jackson, Cossett Basilio, (Tony),
Dena C. Martin, Eric A. Dunn of Baltimore, MD, and
Lucretia Hudson, (Henry), of Jacksonville, FL; sisters,
Christine Rusk, Beverly English, of Baltimore, MD and
Barbara Walker of Gamer, NC; brothers, Charles Jackson,
and Wayne Jackson (Charlene) of Baltimore, MD. He also
leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, relatives, and friends who he loved and cherished.
His son Christopher Jackson, and sister Dorothy Broadway
preceded him in death.
