John Hammond Smith, son of the late Thomas Theodore Smith and Evelyn Fredericka Hall Smith, was born on May 7, 1936. He departd this life suddenly on June 24, 2007. Hammond as we all affectionately knew himwas born and raised in Baltimore, MD. HE recieved his education through the Baltimore City Public School System. He then went on to serve in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany in the mid-1960's. Upon his return home, Hammond worked in the family business of moving and hauling until his life ended. Hammond married the late Akien Gaskins on August 16, 1975. Out of this union they had one daughter, Nikkol Kara Smith. Everyone that knew Hammond knew Nikkol; she was truly ''Daddy's Little Girl''. Hammond possessed a great love for sports, especially football. For many years he playd and coached for the Baltimore Rams where he built life time friendships. He will most be remembered by many for his handsome style of dress and for his cologne. You always knew he was coming or going just by using your sense of smell. Anyone that knew Hammond knew that he loved God and the church. he fellowshipped at The Christ Temple Holliness Church where he served as a Deacon for over five years. Hammond was truly a devoted and loving fathr, grandfather and friend. He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Nikkol Kara Smith; two grandsons, Shaquille and Dominick Smith; brother, Thomas Theodore Smith Jr.; sister, LaVera Jessie Smith; aunt, Ruth Smith; a special friend, Dorothy Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends.
