Obituary

John Clark Sparks Johnnywas born on February 11, 1940 and left us to go his heavenly father on December 2, 2010 He was the eldest son of the late John Russell Sparks and Irene Olivia Brown Sparks. John received his primary education from the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1958. After graduating, he completed a voluntary three year tour of duty with the United States Army, spending an extensive tour in Korea. He returned home and joined the Maryland State Department of Correction officer. He later left this position and joined the Baltimore City Fire Department. John continued his education obtaining an Associate of Arts Degree from the Community College of Baltimore and later a Bachelor's Degree from Morgan State University. In 1966, he married Geneva Green and from this union, two daughters, Pamela and Paula were born. John left the Baltimore City Fire Department and became a Maryland State Tax Assesor, which gave him an opportunity to interact with people. His quiet nature and appealing personalty made him well liked and excel at his job. In 2003, John retired to begin the next phase of his life. He was a twenty-five year member of Alpha Phi Omego Fraternity, were he was a avid supporter of all fraternity events. He was awarded the 2004 Leadership Award for his hard work for the chapter. In 2004, John was joined in marriage to Rose Smith Sparks on the beautiful island of Jamaica. Rose was a faithful and devoted caregiver over the last two and a half years of John's illness. He leaves to mourn: his wife, Rose, son Todd Sparks, two Daughters, Pamela and Paula Sparks, Brothers, James Sparks Marie Dingle and Charles SparksJackie, devoted nieces, Linda Sparks Jr, Charles Sparks Jr. Kelly Sparks and Theodore Sparks, granddaughter, Sequroia Sparks and great-grandson, Eric Solomon; and host of cousins, family and friends.
