Johnson
March 4, 1948 – January 1, 2022
Our beloved brother, JOHN WILLIAM JOHNSON,
was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 4, 1948. John was the oldest of
eight children born to the late Jordan William Johnson and Willie Mae
Johnson. John departed his earthly life on January 1, 2022.
As a youth, John was brought up in the Baptist Church. Along with
his other siblings, John attended Sunday School and Church Services at
Israel Baptist Church in East Baltimore. John believed in God and Jesus
Christ. One of John's favorite scriptures was, "with his stripes we are
healed!
John attended the Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School.
While
at Dunbar, he was a member of the Varsity Football Team. John was
a talented Artist, he could draw anything! He attended the Maryland
School of the Arts where he maiored in Commercial Art. John's
employment history consisted of being an employee for the Maryland
Cup Company (Sweetheart Cup Company), the United States Postal
Service and until his health declined he was employed as a Security
Guard. His Security Guard positions included Johns Hopkins Bayview
Hospital and the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, Maryland
John was big in stature and he had a big kind heart to match his size.
John was always willing to provide assistance to others and would help
in any way that he could.
Later in life John married Catherine Morgan who preceded him in
passing. John's brother Sylvester Johnson also preceded him in passing.
Left to treasure fond memories of John are his brothers, James I
Johnson, Thomas N. Johnson and Anthony Johnson. In addition, his
memories will be cherished by his sisters Diane White, Joanna Johnson
and Katherine J. Mallory. There are also a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and a special friend Veronica Barnes
who hold precious memories of John.
