IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnie Thomas,
Sr.
April 2, 1934 – September 1, 2019
On Sunday, September I, 2019, Johnie M Thomas,
often known as "Pop-Pop", "Uncle [ohnie" "JT" or "Johnnie T'
departed his life at Future Care, after a long illness. J ohnie was
born on April 2, 1934 on Eastern Shore, Maryland and was the
beloved son of the late Monroe H. Thomas and Agnes E. Mack
(Royal).
His life began on the Eastern Shore, Maryland, where he
graduated from Woodson High School. He later served in the
United States Armed Forces and was honorably discharged after 22
years of service and tours in both Korea and Vietnam. He was
united in holy matrimony to Emily Marks. Out of that union came
the birth of three of his six children, Victoria Sudler, Jerome Tho-
mas and John M. Thomas, Jr. (deceased). During his military ca-
reer, he relocated to Jessup Maryland, which he made his home.
After retiring from the military, he continued his career as a chef.
Anyone who knew him, was quite aware of his amazing culinary
talent and passion for cooking. Of course, to go along with a good
meal there had to be a good bottle of Heineken or perhaps a bit of
Chivas Regal ... or as he would say Chivas "Regale". His wit was
like no other and when he chose to be non-verbal, he would give
you an eye roll that told you all he needed to say. We can't forget
his favorite song "For The Good Times". That song was always
played during his many trips back home to Eastern Shore for plenty
of "The Good Times"! He loved taking those trips back "home"
He leaves to cherish his memory his children Victoria
Sudler (John), Jerome Thomas (Patricia), [ohnie M. Thomas, III
(Lydia), Linda Carter; 17 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren;
Sisters Mary Handy, Peggy Rice-Cannon (Maxie), Paula Thomas;
Brothers Oscar Mack (Ella Frances), Charles Mack (Virginia),
James Gale, Harold Thomas. He was preceded in death by his chil-
dren John M. Thomas, Jr. and Doris Ramona Thomas Jefferson.
He was also preceded jn death by sisters Ella M. Butler
(Whittington), Julia Taylor and Frances Sterling. He also leaves to
cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, family and dedicated
friends, to include his longtime friend and former military comrade
Ella Jacobs of North Carolina.
Dad/Pop-Pop/Uncle Johnie/Johnie T/JT was loved and will be
missed by many!
