JOHNNIE H. TOOMER, son of the late Clarence Toomer and Nora Lasater, was born on May 12, 1924 in North Carolina. He served in World War II and received a Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal and a Asiatic Pacific Medal. After serving in the Untied States Army, Johnnie came to Baltimore, Maryland where he met and married his late wife, Edna R. Toomer. Johnnie retired from Sparrow point where he worked for thirty-six years. Johnnie enjoyed life and football. After a brief illnes he departed this life on October 17, 2011 He leaves to mourn his passing: eleven children, Johnnie M. Toomer, Paulette Thorpe, James Toomer, Gloria Tyson, Carol Harrin, Cleveland Toomer, Kenneth Toomer, Ollie Toomer, Paulette Toomer, Johnnie Toomer and Charnita Price, four sons-in-law, Eddie Thorpe, Vernin Tyson, Dennis Harrin and Kerney Spencer; three daughters-in-law, Dommer Toomer, Donna Toomer and Denise Toomer; three sisters-in-law, Gloria Foster, Lovina Lowery and Elsie Gray; thirty grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren; a devoted and loving friend, Laverne Rollins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
