Joseph Edward Allen, son of the late Thomas E. and Mary (Tomlin) Allen, was born on March 16, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on April 1, 2015 at the Summit Park Health and Rehabilitation Center in Catonsville, Maryland after a lengthy illness. Joseph accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Good Hope Baptist Church in Dunnsville, Virginia, where his foster mother, Mrs. Clara Bay ton, was a very active member. He was educated in the public school systems of Virginia in the counties of Lancaster and Essex. For many years he helped to operate his foster father's farming business. He later moved to Richmond, Virginia and then to Baltimore, Maryland, where he obtained employment at the JS. Young Company and later as a longshoreman for the Port Authority of Baltimore. In 1977, he attended truck driving school in New Jersey where he received his CDL Certificate. He drove for such companies as JB. Hunt and later became self-employed as a long-haul trucker for the Nestle Company, until his health began to fail. He was joined in holy matrimony to Brenda Irene Washington on January 13, 1968 in Baltimore, Maryland. To this union one son was born, Craig Ivory Allen. Joseph was preceded in death by his aunt, Ms. Frances Allen; brother-in-law, Charles Washington; and foster brother, James Bayton. He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Brenda Allen; one son, Craig Allen; one sister, Theresa Smith (Vernon) of Baltimore, Maryland; foster brother, John Bay ton (Katherine) and foster sister-in-law, Ann Bay ton of Essex County, Virginia; aunt-in-law, Everdean Jackson of Baltimore, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
