Joseph Blanding was born March 16, 1950 in Sumter, South Carolina. He was the second child of Millie Blanding and often at a young age helped to care for his younger siblings. He was born to Millie Blanding and the late William Blanding. Joseph departed his life on June 29, 2017.

While not professionally trained he always found a way to keep busy. Joseph worked with Mr. Morgan for many years. He would always find a way to help someone if they needed it. Joseph loved being around his family. He loved to dance and roller skate in his younger years. One of his favorite pastimes was shooting pool and talking trash with his brother-in-law Wesley Booth. Joseph had many life long friends and loved being around them as well.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Millie Blanding; his siblings, Isaac Blanding and Shirley Booth (Jeremiah Blanding preceded him in death); his only daughter, Latonya Blanding; his long time companion, Jackie Townes and her three daughters, Joi, Lakeisha, and Dawn and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
