On the morning of August 28, 2013 God quietly close the eyes of our beloved JOSEPH W. HAMILTON, SR. and carried him to his spiritual rest. Joseph W. Hamilton, Sr., son of the late Martha Jordan Hamilton and the late Thomas Franklin Hamilton, was born in St. Mary's County, Maryland on July 15, 1928. Joseph retired from BG&E in 1987. He was married to the late Louise Hamilton, who preceded him in death for forty-seven wonderful years. On March 31, 2007, he, married Linda Doloris Stokes, whom he loved deeply. Joseph and Linda Hamilton were faithful members of Mount Zion Baptist Church until he became ill. Throughout his illness, he loved the Lord with all of his heart. Joseph Hamilton was kind and patient. He did not keep a record of wrongs and was not selfish or quick tempered. Joseph was love at its finest. He was always loving, hopeful and helpful. Anyone who knew him could feel and see the presence of the Lord in him. He was an awesome husband, a wonderful father and faithful friend. Our hearts were filled with love just being in his presence. He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Linda Hamilton; children, Valarie Hamilton, Shelia Hamilton, Teresa Hamilton, Tiffany Jones-Johnson, Joseph W. Hamilton Jr., Geneva Sparks, Marie Hardy, Joann York and Phil York (two sons, Keith Hamilton and Ronald Hamilton preceded him in death); a sister, Frances Hawkins (a beloved sister, Isabell Hamilton preceded him in death); two sons-in-law, Eric Johnson and Thomas Hardy; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews; his devoted friends, James and Christen Williams, Agnes Luster and Miss Josephine Howell.
