J oseph louis Pearson Sr . son of the late Charlie Pearson and Eleanor
Thompson-Pearson was born October 19, 1935 in Garner, North Caroli-
na. The family moved to Baltimore, Maryland when he was three years
old.

He attended Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Douglas
High School.

In 1955 Joe married his high school sweetheart Agnes Dooley and from
that union two sons were born Joseph Jr. and Gary. Later in his life he

became the father to Kia, Tamala and Kheila. . ~

He was a member of Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church until his
illness prevented him from attending.

Joe was always smooth, hip and was known to be stylish and coordinated
from head to toe when he stepped out. His nick name was "Joe Hip". He
loved sports and people.

Joe was a dedicated and hard worker at Bethlehem Steel for 42 years. He
retired in January 2000. Once he retired, you could always find him up
Mondawrnin Mall, his hang out spot with his Mondawmin Mall Gang.

Joe leaves to cherish in loving memory: two sons, Joseph Louis Pearson
Jr., and Gary Pearson; three daughters, Kia Pearson-Nichols, Tamala
Smith and Kheila Pearson; one brother, Sollie Pearson who preceded him
in death and a host of other relatives and friends.
