IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Powers
Jr.
July 18, 1950 – June 15, 2024
Joseph Powers, Jr. was the son of the late Joseph Powers, Sr. and Lillie Mae Powers born in Baltimore, MD on July 18, 1950.
The most gracious farewell would be those words spoken by the Master himself, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over the few things, I will make thee ruler over many things, enter thou into the joy of your Lord." These words are quite befitting for a servant who lived a useful, faithful, devoted, and unselfish life!
Joe, as he was affectionally called, received his education in the Baltimore City School System. He went on to become a certified caterer as his love for food became more evident. He loved to celebrate and invite people to gather, eat and have a wonderful time. He enjoyed fun, family, and music, especially gospels and oldies, but goodies!
Joe was a very caring and passionate person. He showed his love for family and friends whenever duty called! He never said no! NEVER! He would attend all family functions and was usually the first one to arrive.
He served faithfully at his church called, The United Brethren Churches of Our Lord Jesus Christ General Assembly Church of the Living God, under the leadership of Bishop William Gaines, Jr. until his health began to fail. He felt his ministry was to serve in the church kitchen. He loved working for the Lord! He was loved and respected by family, friends, and church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lillie Powers, two sisters, Katherine Taylor, and Deborah Powers and one brother Jerry Powers. He leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Carol Powers King (Wayne) and Carolyn Powers-Brown (William), two nieces, Maisha Bethel, Michelle Waters (Charles) and two nephews, Mitchell P. Warren (Nneka) and Joshua Warren (Barbara). From a previous marriage, two stepchildren, Sharon Awkard and Rahshid Coleman. Ten great-nephews and nieces, Daymon, Damontae, Logan, Andrew, Kristin, Kaliah, Janvier, Jara, Jamille, and Daysha, and four great-great nieces, and one nephew. A host of family and friends. We will miss him so much!
