Obituary

joseph Leroy Queen was born in
Baltimore, MD on November 9, 1950.
joe, as he was fondly known, was the
second son of Francis Leroy Queen and
Blonnie V. Bazemore Queen. On Friday,
April 6, 2018, he departed for his heavenly
home. He was a member of Bethel C.O.C.LC.,
pastored by the late Elder james Parker.
During his lifetime he was also very active with
the Islamic social organizations such as the
Nation of Islam under the leadership of Louis
Farrakhan.

He was educated in the Baltimore City Public
School System and for years worked at Harbison
Walker Refractories, along with his Dad and
uncles. Through very hard work, joe possessed
the true entrepreneur spirit and owned a
radiator repair shop in West Baltimore in the
70's. Through the fruits of joe's hard work and
labor, he purchased a home in Edmondson
Village; this was a very proud moment for him
in reaching this goal. joe's childhood was filled
with fun, laughter, love, as well as always
challenging and enlightening debates on social
and political events. If you knew joe, you knew
his heart and how he loved his family and
would do anything to protect them. joe was
the fun uncle and always had a kind and
encouraging word for his nieces and nephews.
He would always end the conversation with
"you know I love you, right!!!" He also
refused to eat pork unless it was in his
Momma's stuffing.

joe was instrumental in teaching his brother,
Don, how to drive his old Chevy in the alley
behind Flowerton Road where a bottle of Colt 45 encouraged their success. Due to his loving,
sharing and caring nature, joe and his Chevy
also taught other siblings how to drive.

joe, with his wife Claudette, regularly
attended the Tabernacles of Worship
Christian Center, where Apostle Noreen
Battle pastors. joe also made several
impromptu visits to Restoration Family
Life Ministries C.O.C.I.C.,
where his late brother-in-law Elder
Charles Scott, Sr. was the pastor.
At Restoration he enjoyed volunteering
to work various projects like repairing and
setting up the Snowball machine. He
maintained a special love for the church
and its ministry and was very happy when
Elder Scott's son, Pastor Eric Scott, followed
his father's calling to the ministry and carry on
the Joseph Marc was born.
