Joseph Edward Smith was born on October 23, 1920 in Richmond, Virginia to Mary Magdalene Smith and Joseph Cornelius Smith. He departed this life on Thursday, November 16, 2006. Joseph attended school in Richmond, Virginia and graduate from Navy Hill High School. He loved to dance in his youth and enjoyed listening to Shirley Caesar. Joseph was a collector and entrepreneur of various business interest. His life time mate of 40 years was the late Minnie Lee Powell. They raised 7 children together and a faithful father until his death. Josephwas very active in his community in south Baltimore and had lived there for over 45 years. Joseph Edward Smith leaves to mourn his children, Vivian Gresham, Mattie McClendon, William Lee Powell, Sr., Norman Powell, and Robert Powell. Faithful niece Dorothy Graham, 12 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
