Son of the late Henry and Westilia Spence, Joseph was born on November 23, 1931 in Virginia. He departed this life on November 6, 2006 after a lengthy illness. Joe received his education through Baltimore City Public Schools. Upon completion of his education, he worked as a full time construction worker. On March 17, 1952, Joe joined the United States Army and servd honorably for two years. On July 8, 1967, Joe married Martha M. Young. They were blessed with three daughters and three sons. Joe made numerous friends wherever he went. He was a true friend and a devoted husband and father. Joe will sincerely be missed by everyone who knew him. Joe leaves to mourn: his wife, Martha M. Spence; two daughters, Deborah Spence and Cynthia Webb; two sons, Joseph Spence and Dwayne Spence. He is predeceased by son, John Tarleton and daughter, Regina Tarleton. Also mourning his passing: son-in-law, Denise Spence; and six grandchildren, Teddy, Andre, Leroy, Dwayne, Ricky, Dominic, Nikki and Shavontae, and a host of great-grandchildren. Joe leaves behind two brothers, Henry Spence and Manuel Spence and is predeceased by one sister, Mary Franklin. Also sharing in this sorrow is a very special friend, Harman Gross.
