Obituary

Josephine Theresa Pinder, daughter of the late Josephine Gardner and William Jordan was born September 17, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on July 2, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Josephine learned about the grace and mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church where she was baptized, confirmed and received the holy sacrament of marriage to James Pinder, Jr.. Josephine and James were childhood sweethearts. On August 18, 1956, they become husband and wife and remained devoted to one another for 56 years. to this union, two sons were born, James and Douglas. Josephine was education in Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Frederick Douglas Senior High School. She was employed at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. Josephine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She celebrated the holidays with warmth and vigor and in particular, we all looked forward to having breakfast on Christmas day at mothers and spending the day there. She was an avid watcher of the spiritual television networks. She watched the rosary programs and prayed the Rosary daily. n Her favorite prayer was the Serenity prayer. She shared her God guided spirit with the children in the neighborhood and with anyone in crisis. Often, neighborhood children were found at her home receiving a meal, guidance or words of encouragement. She enjoyed those old Bible movies such as the Ten Commandments with Charleston Heston! She also enjoyed bingo, Friday night card games and going to the casinos. All who knew Josephine will fondly remember her. In particular, her husband, James Pinder, Jr.; two sons, James Pinder III valerie and Douglas Pinder GLoria; six grandchildren, Kisha, Keona, Terrence, Kimberly, Souglas Kia and Diamond, four great-grandchildren, Ayana, GAmera, Kahlia and Ka-Mari; three brothers, Charles Gardner, Stanley Gardner and Robert Gardner; one sister, Gloria Ashby, best friend, Kay Minter and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Brother Thomas Gardner and Nathaniel Gardner and sisters, Shirley Freeman, June Smith, Jean Robinson and Ann Norris, preceded her in death.
