On April 20, 2013, God with great mercy and infinite wisdom, gently closed the eyes of our father, grandfather, cousin and friend, JOSHUA BESSICKS, SR., and received him into His rest. JOSHUA, known as JOSH to many, was born on October 31, 1919 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, to the late John Henry Bessicks & Sarah Glover. He was one of two children. He and his brother Clifton Bessicks (deceased) were inseparable. You knew that whenever there was a good time to be had they were there. JOSH attended Anne Arundel County Schools. JOSH worked at Davidson Chemical Company in Curtis Bay, MD and then for Consolidated Engineering Company in Sparrows Point, MD for more than 40 years; retiring as a Foreman. It was during this time that he met and married Ruth Chandler (deceased) and began raising his first family. JOSH later married Laura Peoples (deceased) and together they raised another family. Josh was a loving father to all of his children and was admired for his commitment to both families. In 1992, JOSH gave his life to Christ. Long before that, he was active with the Rock of Gibraltar Ministry at Hall United Methodist Church in Glen Burnie, MD. JOSH later joined New Antioch Baptist Church in Baltimore City and became a devoted member. JOSH loved to dress in the latest fashions and always sported the newest cars that were out. He would buy the hottest car out for himself and a station wagon to ride the kids around in. He loved driving to South Carolina & Ohio to visit his extended family. He was a devoted friend to Charles Tolliver and Matt Patterson (both deceased). They were the three amigos. JOSH's charming personality and smile could put anyone at ease. He touched many lives with his love and kindness. He leaves to mourn his memory; four sons & five daughters; Donald (Peggie) Bessicks (Severn, MD), Elease Cain (Bedford, OH), Jacquelyn Marshall (Roswell, GA), Gloria Bessicks (Severn, MD), Larry (Margarite) Bessicks (Columbia, MD), Joshua (Linda) Bessicks, Jr., Sarah Bernadette Harris, Yvonne Denise (Ivy Joe) Davis, & John Eddie (Janet) Bessicks (all of Baltimore, MD). JOSH loved everyone, but had a special place in his heart for his nineteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. JOSH also leaves behind; three sisters-in-law, Sadie Thompson (Baltimore, MD), Willa Mae (Roy) Coleman and Margaret Reed (Cleveland, OH), one brother-in-law Theodore (Darlene) Peoples (Cleveland, OH), many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family & friends. JOSHUA now rests in eternity with his parents: John & Sarah Bessicks; wife, Laura Peoples-Bessicks; and daughters, Phyllis Manzell Bessicks & Karen Patricia Bessicks. Viewing Joseph H.
