JOYCE BENITA CAMPBELL-ELLIS, daughter of the late James W. Johnson and Ruth Naomi Johnson, was born on May 4, 1950 in Frederick, Maryland. She departed this life on July 5, 2013. Joyce, known affectionately to her family and friends as "Granny," attended the Baltimore City Public School System. She later graduated from Western Senior High School in 1969. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her grandparents. Roller skating was just one of her favorite hobbies. She also loved bowling and playing soft ball. Joyce began her career as a Correctional Officer with the State of Maryland in 1982, where she worked for twenty years before retiring as a Captain. She was preceded in death by: her father, James W. Johnson; and her older sister, Blanche E. Kirk. Joyce Benita Campbell-Ellis leaves behind to mourn: her husband, Garrett Ellis; her mother, Ruth Naomi Johnson; her daughters, Jacqueline E. Daniels, Tracey R. Campbell and Yolanda B. Campbell; her son, Kelly Goodwin; and daughter-in-law, Paulette Goodwin; grandchildren, Autumn, DaKeisha, Amber, Mickell, Kiara and Kelly; three brothers, William M. Johnson, James L. Johnson and Wayne J. Johnson; three sisters, Gloria D. Miller, Geraldine Wilson and Essie Mae Timmons; and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home
