Joyce E. Patterson, daughter of the late Isaiah Willis and Marie Braxton, was born on May 15, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on February 3, 2012 after a lengthy illness. She received her education in the Baltimore city Public School System. She was a homemaker, liked to knit, crochet and she loved to play the slots. She was a member of the Higher Heights church in Lynchburg, Virginia. She received Christ as her personal Savior. She was a strong believer in God and shared it with her children. She met Roland W. Carter in the early seventies. during this long term relationship, they were married and raised nine children together. Joyce Elaine Patterson made numerous friends throughout her life and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her. She was always a true friend and devoted moth to all. She leaves to mourn; ten children, Sherry High John, Myra Patterson, Gwendolyn Smith Larry, Cynthia Porcher, Glennie Porcher Doris, Glenda Vann Cornelius, Elijah Porcher, Dorothea Davis Motley, Andrea Logan Ricky, and Angela; two sisters Zelma Cherry and Peggy Hawkins; one brother, Gilbert Braxton Janice; nieces, nephews and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. she also leaves to mourn Mrs. Pinkie, her long time devoted friend. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Willis and Valerie Brasxton; two brothers, Isaiah Willis and Jeffery Braxton.
