ULIA B. RICE. affectionately known as "Chippy' or
'"Shug" to her family and close
friends, gained her angel wings into heaven on May 25, 2022, She was a loving
sister. mother. grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to all. She was
born April 2. 1929 in Valentines. Virginia to the late James "Jim" Lynch and Annie
Lynch.
Julia received her education from Saint Paul High School in Lawrenceville. Virginia.
She met and married the late James P. Rice, and they relocated to Baltimore,
Maryland. From this union ten loving children were born. Julia was a very
hardworking woman. She worked at Villa Maria for 30+ years, where she later
retired. Shortly, after retiring, she worked part-time at Sam's Club for 10 years.
In 1994, Julia became a member of Rising Zion Baptist Church, where she served as
President of the Pastor's Aide Ministry and a Deaconess. She has been a faithful
member for 28 years until she became ill.
Julia was very resilient and she persevered through life like a WARRIOR ! She had
the most caring spirit you could have ever met. She so graciously did unto others
before herself, She wasn't someone you could ever forget, she touched every soul she
met in only a way she could. She definitely left her mark! She left us with comfort.
Knowing that she is at peace sitting behind heaven gates with a smile. She wanted
us to remember. the good and hilarious moments we all shared with her without
shedding tears.
Julia was loved by her family and friends. She loved caring for her grandchildren.
great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
seven children. Deborah, Gregory. Tyrone, Ryland. Kenneth, James, and Rhonda: and
three brothers. Franklin. Clarence, and Joseph Sr. Julia leaves to cherish her
memory: her two sons Michael (Lue) and Alan, one daughter Carolyn (Tyrene Sr.).
one sister Emma (Kenneth); two godsons, Wyman Taylor and Swindell Taylor: 26
grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 11 great great-grandchildren: and a host
of family and friends.
