June Hla nee Peter, fifth child and the youngest daughter of the late Pastor and Mre. T. Peter was born on June 11, 1934 at Ohndaw, Myanmar Burma. the onset of World War II disrupted her early education. After the war she continued her education at the Myaungmya Seventh-Day Adventist High School and graduated 1952. She attended Spicer Memorial College in 1953 for a short time and due to her mother ill health, returned to Myanmar the same year. After her mother recuperated, she enrolled in the nursing program offered by the Rangoon Adventist Hospital, graduated with a R.N. degree and continued working there till the hospital was nationalized in 1962. June worked as a Home Health Officer for Health Ministry of the Government of Myanmar till she and her husband Tha Hla immigrated to USA in 1988. Due to red tape involved in obtaining her education and work records for the Myanmar Health Ministry, June was unable to appear for the Maryland Nursing board qualification examinations. She woked at The Lorien Nursing Home in columbia till retirement in 2005. While visiting her son , Titus in St. Paul, Minnesota, She contracted a severe case of deadly bacterial infection and succumbed to it within 72 hours. June was an easygoing, friendly, loving and a compassionate person. Her door was always open to anyone in need. Especially the Karen refugees from Myanmar, often providing free boarding and lodging for several months. June is survived by her husband Tha Hla, sons titus and Toe-Toe Hla, duaghter Thidar, brother Barnabus Peter, sister Wsther Gorde, daughter-in-laws Muhtoo and Nyein Nyein Win, brothe-in-law C.J. Gorde, nephews, Eugene Peter, John Gorde, Ashley Peter, Ronald Stanley Jr., nieces Lorna Peter, Julia Ann and Million Peter, Sheila gorde, grandsons Cynas, Kaw Kaw, Aung Myint, granddaughter Nora, Grandnephews Seth gorde, Justin and D'Arce Peter, grandniece Jeanalyn Stanley and other Myanmar.
