daughter of the late Beatrice Smith and Henry George, was born on August

5th, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland. She transitioned from this life on Thursday

July 18th, 2019.

She received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools System.

Katherine, preferably known as "Cathy" entered the workforce were she

gained employment with various companies for many years, including

Bethlehem Steele as a welder. From there, she became employed at Bryn

Mawr Private School for Girls where she dedicated 20 years of service until

her retirement in August 2009.

Cathy enjoyed spending time with family and close friends. She truly loved

her family especially her grandson Lamont. She was a die-hard Baltimore

Ravens and Baltimore Orioles Fan. Cathy was a true diva and known for

her wide selection of fashionable sunglasses and jewelry. Also known for

her strong and lovable personality, Cathy was as REAL as they come and

protected those close to her.

Although everyone will greatly miss Cathy's physical presence, her impact

on those whom she came to know and love will stay with them forever.

She leaves to mourn: five- daughters, Sheila "Abby"Melendez, Yolanda and

Myra Sepulveda and the late Celeste Paz and Lesley Paz; one son, James

Alan Smith; four grandsons, David, Marcus, Lamont Purnell and Justin; one

great grandson Daron, one great granddaughter Gianna; two sisters,

Geraldine Melton and Brenda McDaniels; one god daughter Imani

Staton-McCrimmon; four nieces, Gwendolyn "Gwennie"Underdue, Linda

Alston, LaVette Clarke and Kellie McDaniels; one nephew Marlon McDan-

iels; longtime coworker and friend Larry; and a host of other relatives and

friends. She was also preceded in death by her longtime best friend

Margaret Dorsey.
