Katherine V. Thompson, daughter of the late Rosa Lee Sabb and David Nelson, was born January 3, 1929 in Manning, S.C. She departed this life on february 22, 2009 after a long period of illness. She received her education in Manning, S.C. where she met and married the late Louis White Thompson. In 1952 she moved to Miami, Fl. where she lived for a short period of time. In 1958 She moved to New York where she was employed as a waitress. In 1975 she moved to baltimore, Md. and resided here for the remainder of her life. During her years here she became a foster parent and adopted 3 children, Myeisha Hawkins, Corina Green and Renard Jones. Katherine may have been her birth name but to many she was known as "Mama." She made numerous friends wherever she went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her. She leaves to mourn; one sister Delores James, three children Leroy Thompson, J.C. Thompson and Louise Reliford; one daughter-in-law, Helen Thompson, three children who preceded her in death, George Thompson, Harold Thompson and Louis Thompson Jr., twelve grandchildren, Charlene, Renee, Corina, Eddie, Tina, James, Devin, Lee, Yolanda, Ra-Shon, Omar and Melody, many great-grand kids and three great-great-grands, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
