Obituary

KATIE MAE SINCLAIR McLAIN was born on February 22, 1931 to the late Elliard and Effie Sinclair in Anderson County, Wadesboro, North Carolina. She departed this life on June 29, 2013 after a brief illness. Katie attended the North Carolina School System. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age at Deep Creek Baptist Church in Wadesboro, North Carolina. Katie was united in holy matrimony to the late Henry Hubert McLain on May 25, 1952. From this union, there are six children: Marvin, Napoleon, Deborah, Henrietta, Curtis and Valarie. After relocating to Baltimore, Maryland in 1969, she joined Simmons Memorial Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. William King. Katie was a member of the Pastor's Aide Society, Senior Choir II and the Culinary Committee. She was employed in the textile industry before relocating to Baltimore, Maryland. Katie was later employed by the Powell, Snuff and Menzies families. She was a devoted worker and caregiver to each of these families. Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; two sisters, Redessa and Oleather; and four brothers, June, Clayton, Johnnie and James. The matriarch of her family, her warm smile, gentle spirit, loving kindness and zest for life will be greatly missed. Those of us whose lives were touched by knowing her have reserved a special place in our hearts where her memory will forever be remembered. It will bring a smile to our faces at the mention of her name. Katie leaves to cherish her memory: six children, Marvin, Napoleon (Michelle Renee), Deborah, Henrietta, Henry Curtis and Valarie; eleven grandsons and three granddaughters; seven great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters; two sisters, Roxie Ratliff (Thomas) of Charlotte, NC and Annie Poteat; two brothers, Jadie and George Sinclair of Charlotte, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. Charles Gardner was a dear and devoted friend to Katie for many years. Viewing Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home Friday, July 05, 2013 03:00 PM - 08:00 PM Email Details 2140 N. Fulton Ave
