Kenya LaSonya Gardner was born on January 17,1992 to Latanya Whitten and Kevin
Gardner in Baltimore Maryland. On June 21,2022, her life on this earth was interrupted
unexpectedly and she received her eternal wings into GOD'S heavenly kingdom where she
will rest with her other family and friends that have passed on.
"'Niya" as we all called her was a fun-loving person. Her children were her world. She adored
being a mother to Bran- Bran and Ken-Ken, they were her pride and joy. Growing to be a
great mom and devoted fiancé, Niya enjoyed building her new life with her family and
partying in her spare time with her many cousins and friends. Her beautiful smile would
brighten up any room and her personality was infectious.
Niya received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She held down
various jobs but doing hair was her passion. She had a natural talent starting at an early age,
she was braiding all of her family and friends' hair, Making Sure you came to Her to get you
right and enjoy many laughs and a good conversation keeping you up on the latest tea in
the process.
Niya was preceded in death by her grandmother, Priscilla Vincent and her grandfather's
Joseph Whitten and Dennis Hancock.
Niya will be greatly missed and leaves to Cherish her Memories her mother Latanya
Whitten, stepfather Anthony Moore, two children, Brandon Jones Jr. and Kenley Jones,
fiancé Brandon Jones Sr., sister Octavia Vanlandingham, brother Keon Whitten,
grandmothers Louise Whitten, Sandra Hancock, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host
of special friends.
