Lanier Richards, born to the late Columbus and Lillian Richards on October 2, 1943 and was the fifth child of seven siblings: Sertha, Elroy, Connell, and Gordon (pre- ceded him in death), Gary and Roxanne. He attended Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Southern High School. Lanier joined the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. After the service he went to work at Rob's Body & Fender Shop during what he loved best. He later worked for the Coppin State University as a Campus Police Officer and later moved to Supervisor of the Housekeeping Department where he retired. Lanier was always joking and kidding with his co-workers and friends. He loved to listen to Jazz and loved to watch basketball and football. He leavesto cherish his memories: one daughter, Dacia Richards; one son, Jamall Richards, two grandsons, Donya Knox (who preceded him in death) and Isaac Richards; one granddaughter, Amaiya Contrell; one sister, Roxanne Rich- ards; one brother, Gary Richards; nieces, nephews, cousins, a special and devoted friend, Adria Carey and host of many friends.
