Larry Joe Boykins, son of Maddie Cotton and Willie Boykinswas born April 23,1956 in Baltimore, MD. He departed this life on February 23, 2020.
Larry was raised by his loving parents, mother Maddie Cotton and fatherWillie Boykins. He grew up 1 of 8 siblings. Larry unfortunately lost hismother at the young age of 12. He was thencared for by some of his siblings,spending time growing up in both New York and Baltimore.
Larry read a lot and was very intelligent. He was self taught and was eager to join the workforce.
As a young man, Larry married Robin Lynn Phillips. Bearing one childfrom the marriage, daughter Twann Jefferson.
Larry graduated from Mergenthaler High School in Baltimore city and alsoattended some college courses.
Larry gained employment as an I.T. Technician early in his career.Because he was self taught in electronics and computer systems, Larry wasable to acquire many job opportunities.
Larry later moved to Oklahoma where he remarried twice while there. Helater relocated to Baltimore again. Eager to put some of his worst struggles
behind him and to try his best at a fresh start.
You might say he was a living example of Donnie McClurkin's 'We FallDown'. That is because he would always do the work to get back up again.And he would indeed pull himself way up.
He was able to develop amazing relationships with his daughter, grandsons, in -laws, family and old and new friends. He also recently becameengaged to Cindy Smith-Lewis.
Larry enjoyed playing albums, visiting family and friends, going to concerts and jazz clubs, fishing and much more.
Larry made sure to be an amazing father and grandfather. Spending lotsof time with his grandsons by attending everything from their art showsand little league games to going to Ravens and Oriole games, movies andgrandparents day at school.
He is survived by his daughter Twann Jefferson, Son-In-Law ShawnJefferson Sr., grandsons Diarra Gift Davis, Shawn Jefferson Jr., JustinJefferson and Ethan Jefferson, his greatgranddaughter Glory Lynn Davis,brother James Boykins, sisters Rudeen Davis and Carolyn Blue, fiancéCindy Smith-Lewis, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.Larry leaves to cherish his memory a host of people who he held a specialplace in his heart. He will be remembered as Pops, Grand-pop, UncleLarry Rico Suave' and more!
