IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry L.
Harris, Sr.
December 12, 1950 – December 5, 2018
Larry L. Harris, Sr. was born on December 12,1950. The Lord called
him home peacefully as he slept, on Wednesday December 5,2018.
Larry was the son of Elaine Harris Hart and the late Clarence J.
Harris. He was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools and a
graduate of Edmondson High. An inquisitive child, Larry would often
be found disassembling and repairing electronics and other items.
If it wasn't working, he could fix it. He was employed for many
years with the Housing Authority of Baltimore City's maintenance
department.
Larry was baptized at an early age and attended Mt. Ararat Baptist
Church in Baltimore, MD. His early relationship with God would carry
him through the good days as well as the health challenges that
presented later in life. He often said "I'm gonna just put everything
in God's hands; I know God's got me and God will make a way".
Larry, "Chico", "Reds", "Desert Fox", as he was known, had many gifts
and talents. He loved art and excelled using different mediums like
pencil drawing, oil painting, chalk pastels and wood carving. His
unique portfolio included abstracts, interesting faces/eyes, portraits,
serene woods, beaches, and animals. Larry was an animal lover. He
was curious about their habitats, lifestyles and temperaments. He
enjoyed wildlife television shows, the history channel, and never met
a dog he didn't like - the bigger the dog, the better. Larry was trained
in martial arts, obtained a black belt in Karate and loved watching kick
boxing matches. He was great at old school hand dancing and happy
to teach others.
Larry was a natural born comedian. He could make you laugh
uncontrollably no matter your age, gender or socio-economic
status. There were characters he would transform into like
"Mo Schmidley" and rapid fire jokes that could brighten your day.
Larry valued "real friendships" and didn't tap dance around
how he felt about things. However, behind the "tough" public
persona was a soft spot. He might chew you out about something
and then turn around and give you his last dollar. He didn't have
a lot of resources, but if Larry could help you, he
would. Larry was happy when he could make you smile through a
simple act of kindness.
Larry loved and was loved by his family and friends. He treasured
the relationship he had with his son Larry Jr. He found comfort in the
fact that Larry Jr. had found a gem in his wife Deveree, and knew he
would always be surrounded by love.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Elaine Harris Hart
(Filmore) son, Larry L. Harris, Jr. (Deveree), siblings, Cathy Harris
Blackwell (Darryl), Michael Harris, Allyson Harris Owens (Andre),
Sandra Harris (Howard), Rev. Jocelyn Lovelace (Eddie), Philmore Hart
(Janet), Gerard Hart (Kendra), several nieces and nephews, including
Erin (Tory), Kiarra, David, Kevin, Lauren, Grant, Chris, God-brother
Earl Cottman, God-sister Allison Foster, a devoted special friend
Cynthia Edmonds and her family, and a host of other relatives and friends.
