Larry Thomas Smith entered into his eternal rest on

Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in Randallstown, Maryland at

age 67. He is one of four children born to the late Mary

Ruth Powell and Nathaniel Smith in Skippers, Virginia.

He became a member of Diamond Grove Baptist Church

at a young age and was later baptized in Wayward

Baptist Church in Baltimore in the early 80s. Educated in

Maryland Public Schools, Larry was certified in various

specializations as a construction worker. He assisted with

building tunnels in Puerto Rico, the Baltimore Washington

Drawer bridge, the 95 Underground tunnel and Baltimore

Metro Rail tunnel among others.

Larry married the late Kathy Smith in 1970 and his oldest

son Derrick Smith was born from their union. He later

remarried Tracey Smith and from that union their son

Tavone Smith was born. When his best friend Bobby

Briggs and wife Brenda moved to California for work,

they extended an invitation for Larry and his family to

join them. This marked the beginning of his travels; he

maintained a lifelong friendship with the couple. Upon

retirement he established a small contracting company-

Larry T. Smith and Sons.

A quiet person, Larry enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh

Steelers play, cooking, gardening, and above all else,

spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves to

treasure his memories: his siblings, Addie Elliott, Gloria

Chapman, and Purcell Smith; his children, Derrick Smith,

Tavone Smith (daughter-in-law Alicia), and Charles Monroe

(daughter-in-law Ebony); his grandsons, Trayvon, Tyrell,

Kenard, and Aiden; and his granddaughter, Zoe (who he

affectionately called "My Princess").
