Obituary

Larry Warfield Sr. passed away peacefully in Baltimore, Maryland, on October 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, lessons, and love that will never be forgotten. Born on June 21, 1959, to the late Mary and George Warfield, Larry was funny, outgoing, and always the life of the party. Larry was christened as a child as his parents gave him to Christ. His faith and the values instilled in him from childhood guided his path in life.

"Imma tell you some good stuff." Those words, often followed by laughter and truth, perfectly capture the spirit of Larry. He was known to say the unsaid, often things that might have been better left unspoken, but when they came from him, they were pure comedy and full of heart.

Larry was more than a friend to many. He was a mentor, a neighborhood favorite, and he was a true family man. In his younger years, Larry was known to treat the neighborhood kids to ice cream well before he had a son of his own. As he grew older he was affectionally known in his neighborhood as Uncle L.

As a young man, Larry worked at Lafayette Market after school before beginning his long and dedicated career at Baltimore City Hospital, now known as Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. At Baltimore City Hospital, he began in Environmental Services before transitioning to Patient Care. As an Operating Room Assistant, he comforted patients and ensured their safe transportation to surgery. Throughout his 17-year tenure, Larry was known for his reliability, compassion, and dedication, earning multiple Employee of the Month awards for his outstanding service and commitment to helping others.

All of his family loved him deeply. His nieces adored him and can talk for hours about the memories they shared with him, lessons they hold onto to this day. Larry had a special bond with his nieces and nephews, filled with unforgettable moments. He would take them to the fair every year and other fun outings. He never missed a chance to show up for them. To his nieces, Uncle Larry was the one who made sure everyone felt safe, included, and loved. He spoiled them every Christmas with gifts and always made them feel special.

He was a protector, dependable and genuine, the real deal through and through. Larry loved to dress nice and always took pride in his appearance. He was independent, self-sufficient, and carried himself with confidence. He loved treating his mother to lunch and dinner, he truly loved his Mama.

Words that best describe him include outgoing, funny, fun, straight up, and direct. He had a way of delivering truth wrapped in humor. You would laugh first, then realize he was teaching you something real about yourself. His humor was unmatched, his presence unforgettable, and his personality complex yet full of warmth. To know Larry was to know love and family.

He loved the game of basketball, enjoyed reading, and loved family. He loved to watch The Godfather, especially calling up his brother-in-law Leon Witherspoon to watch it with him. He also had a special love for sweet potato pie.

Larry leaves to cherish his memory his son, Larry Warfield Jr., his grandchildren Gabrielle, Loriel, Arianna, Kevin, and Dior, and his Goddaughter Lachresha White, each of whom brought him joy and pride. Larry was one of fourteen children born to Mary Warfield. He was preceded in death by his sisters Georgie-Laverne, Garnell, Laverne, and Genevieve his brothers Bernard, Gary, and Ronald. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving siblings Carlotta, Frances (Leroy Gladden), Lovette (Carl Dix), George (Arnetta Warfield), Victoria, and Rochelle (Leon Witherspoon), who will forever cherish his memory. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and countless family members and friends who were touched by his life.

Those who knew him will forever smile at the memory of his laughter-filled moments and late-night talks. Larry leaves behind more memories than one page can hold, memories that will live on through the stories, the laughter, and the love of all who were blessed to have known him.
