LaVerne Hudson, affectionately known as "Lovey," passed peacefully in her sleep on January 20, 2015 upon hearing the voice of our Lord Jesus Christ say, "Come unto me and I will give you rest." God gently and quietly carried her home into her place amongst the heavens. Born on November 22, 1935, Lovey was the daughter of the late James and Viola Hudson. She lived in Glen Burnie, Maryland where she attended Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Lovey was a homemaker for many years but later made a career as a nursing assis- tant at North Arundel Convalescent Center and Future Care Rehabil- itation Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland. At a young age, she accepted Christ at Hall United Methodist Church (Marley Neck) and she enjoyed Sunday morning service for many years until she became ill. Lovey also treasured the holidays, especial- ly Christmas, as it gave her great pleasure to "throw down" in the kitchen for all her children and anyone else who came over. It was said that no one could make a pound cake better than she. Lovey enjoyed decorating and shopping especially with her sister Annie. Lovey leaves to cherish her memories nine children, Barbara Meachem, Shirl Meachem, James S. Hudson Sr. (Annette), Brenda Brown (William), Carolyn Hammond (Larry), Anthony Johnson (preceded her in death (Denise), Diane Thomas (Ryndell), Keith Johnson and Franklin Dean, Jr., 18 grandchildren, 23 great- grandchildren, five brothers, James Leroy Hudson, Sr. (Leocadia), Arvel Hudson (Virginia), Eugene Hudson, Sr. (Ioan preceded him in death), Frederick Hudson and Albert Hudson (Doreen), three sisters Anna Mae Hudson (preceded her in death), Gertrude Mahoney Gerome) and Blanche Hudson; devoted friend Lorenzo (Skpokie) Dennis; special bond with nephew Mark; special cousin Carlean Clark, and a host of nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends and appreciated caregivers Felicia Baker, Madge Weaver, Margaret Hontonu, Simona and Renem Nelmida, Viewing Hall United Methodist Church
