Lavinia White was born Lavinia Saunders, daughter of the late William and Sophronia Saunders, on Septetnber 19, 1929inBaltimore, Maryland. She is affectionately knownas Sis to her children,nieces, and nephews. She was known as Big Sistoher verydear Cousin Mary and family. She departed this lifeonMay18,2020,at the Blessed age of ninety.
Sis/ Big Sis lost her hearing and speech at the age oftwo. Being hearing and speech impaired did not stop her from living afull Blessedlife.
She received her education at the Baltimore School for the Deaf.Sis/Big Sis graduated at the age of eighteen and was employedasa Childcare worker for eight years.
Sis/Big Sis married SylvesterH.White on Aug. 10, 1957. Fromthis union they had 8 children. She developed her own unique way of communicating with her children, other family members andfriends.She loved to dance to the beat of the music at an early age. Her favorite things todowas sewing, drawing, and watching T.V shows. Shealso liked to watch movies especially Horror and Westerns. Even though she was silent, she spokeinvolumes especially when giving instructions.
Sis/Big Sis had a special talent for teaching math, reading,and communication skills to her family and close friends. In 1980, she received The Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Faith Church. Lavinia became a faithful member of RhemaTabernacle Inc. under the leadership of Elder Rodney Richardson, in2012until God called her home.
Lavinia was preceded in death by her husband SylvesterH.WhiteSr., her son SylvesterH.White Jr., grandson Isaiah White Jr., greatgrandson HubertL.Rice Jr., and a dear first cousin/god sister MaryStavis.
Sis/Big Sis leaves her 7 children to Cherish her Precious Memories, Daughters: Bennie Rice (Harry), Louise Brown (Kevin), Barbara White, and Wileva Johnson (Tony). Her Sons: Robert White, Hugh White, and Isaiah White Sr. (Regina). She also had 41 Grand-kids, 66 Great Grand-kids, 30 Great Great Grand-kids. Ahostofnieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and a Wonderful friend in Christ andinlife Elder Vonderlear Street.
