Obituary

Lena Mae Mercer (Lena Horn), beloved daughter of Leroy and Brenda Walker was born on June 21, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on January 23, 2014. Lena was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She attended Northwestern Senior High School where she played volleyball and was also on the varsity basketball team. She later left the public school system and attended Job Corps. Lena was a jack of all trades. She held several jobs and did whatever she had to be the best provider possible for her family no matter what the circumstances. Her last place of employment was Mercer's Child Care Center where she was part owner and operator. Whoever knew Lena had to love her to get along with her. She was the most lovable person you could have ever met. However, don't strike her the wrong way because then "OH BOY!" she was a FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH. Lena would keep you wondering, in suspense, and kept you on your toes. She enjoyed cooking, serving people, good music, dancing, and fashion. She also loved her family very much. Lena accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and joined the Mount Moriah Baptist Church where she served on the O.J.C. Choir and also on the Adult Usher Board. Thank God for a saved soul. She is preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia Mercer and her brother, Leroy Walker, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory: her parents Leroy and Brenda Walker; one son, Glenn Earl Wade, Jr; one daughter, Shalena Wanda Taylor; eight granddaughters, Shakera Wade, Tae'za Williams, Aniya Wade, Unique Owens, Aliyah Clark, Makiyah Clark, Taylor Cox, and Loyalty Armstrong; one brother, Stephen Mercer, Sr.; five sisters, Towanda Mercer Anderson (Hollis Sr.), Maria McGriff, Debbie Brown, Jackie Washington and Wanda Golder; three aunts, Ann Neal of Wilmington, DE, Debbie Easter and Sylvia McGinnis of Baltimore, MD; four uncles, Wallace McGinnis, John Mercer and Linwood Mercer of Baltimore, MD and Sam Mercer of California; a Favorite cousin, Keisha Wing, as well as a devoted friend, Darryl McCloud Viewing Joseph H.
