Obituary

FATHER LENARD FARRAR, affectionately known as ''Uncle Lenny'' and ''Unc'', was born on January 8, 1935 in Knottaway County, Va. to the late Judge B. Farrar and Sallie Jane Farrar. He departed this life on October 31, 2005. He was the youngest of nine siblings, five girls and four boys. He was preceded in death by seven siblings. Lenard and his sister Berta were the last two of the entire original Farrar generation, including aunts and uncles. Lenard received his schooling in the Virginia Public School System. He joined the United States Air Force at the age of eighteen. He developed heartfelt love for cooking while in the Air Force. After his tour of duty, he relocated to New York. Uncle Lenny worked for General Motors and many years for the Conrail Railroad System. Because of his love for children, Unc went on to drive school buses. He transported school children until he no longer could. Uncle Lenny relocated to Baltimore to be with his mother, sisters and brother until their deaths. Uncle Lenard united with The Community Church of Christ under the Leadership of Apostle James R. Jones where he later accepted Christ as his Personal Saviour. His love for the teaching of the Word built him up strong in the Lord so that he would later share this with his family and other people he came in contact with, Uncle Lenard was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, the Deacon Board and the Father's Board. Lenny enjoyed cooking. He was the designed cook almost the majority of the times for all the family functions. He would cook mouth-watering breakfast or dinner and call and say come on over here and get some of this food. He loved to cook and share it with others. He had no problem with it. He used so many ingredients that you couldn't follow in his footsteps to make it taste the way his did. His love for people and pets was phenomenal. He has a great love for his family. Almost everyone that came in contact with Uncle Lenny couldn't help but to call him Uncle Lenny for he was uncle to everyone. He would just smile about it. He was very, very fond of his brother-in-law JC and his sister-in-law Mildred. He leaves to cherish his memory: his last sister, Berta Farrar; one sister-in-law, Mildred Farrar; one brother-in-law, John C. Bell; a large host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, friends and a Church family.
