Leneus ''Gregg'' Ervin, son of the late Barbara and Nathaniel Ervin was born on October 12, 1918 in Darlington, South Carolina. He departed this life on January 18, 2008. He received his education in the Darlington South Carolina Public School System. At age 21, he joined the United States Navy and fought courageously in World War II. After leaving the Navy he moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he worked for AJ PARROT COMPANY. He started with the company when there were only three employees and stayed for twenty-three years until his retirement. he married the former Ruth Hart, and out of this union two children were born, Mary and Mozzell. They gave them nine grandchildren: the late Ulysses G. Parker Jr., Teresa Weathers, Ray Johnson Sr., Barbara Weathers, Karen ''Renee'' Briggs-Brown, Sharon Parker, Henry James Jr., Eugene Wallace Jr., and Shirley L. Knox-Murry all of whom he raised like his own children rather than grandchildren. Affectionately known to family and friends as ''Pop'', Pop made numerous friends wherever he went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him. He was always a true friend and devoted family man. He leaves to mourn: His wife of 68 years Ruth Ervin; two daughters, Mozelle Ervin and Mary Ervin; two sisters, Jeanie Mills and Marie Ervin; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
