Leo McLaurin, son of the late William and Janie McLaurin, was born on July 2, 1926 in Dillon County, South Carolina. He was the fifth of six children born from this union. Three brothers, John Phillips, D.J. McLaurin, William McLaurin Jr. and one sister, Gladys Williams preceded him in death. Jesse Lee McLaurin, his son, also preceded him in death. He departed this life on July 16, 2009 after a short illness. At an early age, he received Christ and was baptized at New Zion Methodist Church in Dillion, South Carolina. In 1956, he married the former Georgia Mae Hodges. He later moved to Baltimore, Maryland. He received his education in the Dillon County Public School System. He was employed by Baltimore City Public Works until his retirement on July 2, 2008. He was a diligent worker and rarely missed a day. He loved his family and enjoyed sharing stories from his early days in South Carolina. His humorous paraphrasing was a joy to his family. He was a kind and generous man. He will be sincerly missed by everyone who knew him. He leave to cherish his memory: his sister, margaree Parms; granddaughter, Charotte McLaurin; two stepsons, James and Edward Hodges; sister-in-law, Mary Mclaurin; two great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
