Obituary

Leola Virginia Kane-Abdullah, the daughter of Amy Scurry-Kane and the late Attus Kane Sr., was born on January 8, 1946 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. After a brief illness her fight was over and God granted her peace on Sunday, September 30, 2012. In 1986, she married her husband Muhaimin Abdullah. This union created a blended family, which included three sons. Leola was educated in Anne Arundel County Schools. She graduated in 1964 from Wiley Bates High School in Annapolis, Maryland. She loved people and her passion was caring for them so she made the health care industry her lifetime career. In 1989 along with her husband, Leola became owner/operator of Salaam Estates an assistant living facility licensed by the state of Maryland. She maintained a good working relationship with her colleagues, employees, client and their families. Leola was raised in a Christian home and started attending church at an early age. Later she accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and in 2009 she joined Love is the Key Ministry and continued to grow spiritually. She served faithfully as a lead usher and in the ministry of helps. She also served with the Servant of Men and Woman Outreach Ministry. Leola loved her family. She was the primary caregiver for her mother for over twelve years. Her nieces and nephews affectionately called her "NaNa". She truly enjoyed spending vacation time and family gatherings with them on a regular basis. Leola's loving care for her family never ended. Preceding her in death; four siblings, Geraldine Scurry-Kane, Shirley Day, Amy Parker, and Attus Kane, Jr. and one stepson, Ibrahim Abdullah. She leaves to cherish her memories; her husband, Muhaimin Abdullah; two sons, Walter Henson, Jr. and Ali Abdullah; a loving mother Amy Kane; three sisters, Elaine King, Charon Wicks Allen, and Claudia Craig Carlton, Sr.; one beloved brother, Andrew Kane Nadine; three grandchildren, Daniel, Jamon, and Eneesa; two special nieces, blessing and Deborah; loyal friends, Margret and Ivannah Gin, a kindred daughter Lesia, and a host of other relatives and friends.
