Obituary

Leon Dwight McArthur, was born to Esther M. Bowen and the late Lyn McArthur on July 20, 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this side of the river on July 1, 2006. His childhood years were spent with life long friends in Cherry Hill. He received his education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. He furthered his education in Business at Baltimore City Community College. Later, he served four years in the United States Army and two years in the U.S. Army Reserves, where he pursued highly trained studies in the area of Communications. Using these skills, Leon worked a long tenure fifteen years for the Comcast Cable Company as a cable technician. Following a successful career in the Communications industry, he advancd his skills in Atlanta, Georgia in order to pursue a new position with the Air Tran Airline. He married Sheila Croswell McArthur on January 5, 1979. Out of this union two daughters were born, Monique and Veronique. Leon freely shared his beloved relationship with and dependence on the Lord. He renewed his walk with the Lord, giving his life as saved follower in April, 2003. He atended Hemingway Temple A.M.E. Church Baltimore, where he offered his stewardship serving in church security and in the media ministry. Leon valued familyl as is most treasured earthly joy. Those who knew him best were privy his being a hard-working, devoted father and a community family man. He was most generous in his praise an adoration for his two beautiful daughters and their accomplishments. Without a doubt, he rarely greeted anyone without that winning smile. He lived life to its fullest. He loved watching as well as playing basketball, football and billiards. He found great pleasure in music, especially gospel and jazz. Leon leaves to mourn: a loving wife, Sheila C. McArthur Baltimore, Md.; two daughters, Monique M. Briley Fallston, Md. and Veronique McArthur Baltimore, Md.; who currently attends Central Penn College Pa.; his mother, EstherBowen Baltimore, Md.; two granddaughters, Shaniya and Shayla Briley Md.; two stepbrothers, Wayne Bowen Cumberland, Rhode Islandand Byron Bowen Baltimore, Md.; his mother-in-law, Doris Croswell Md.; two nephews, Garett and Tyrone; one son-in-law, Dante Briley Md.; one sister-in-law, Sharon Md.; a host of other bosom-buddy cousins with roots in Lumberton, North Carolina; numerous beloved relatives and countless endearing co workers and friends.
