IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leon J.
Trueheart
May 9, 1954 – July 3, 2019
Leon James Trueheart was born May 9, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland
to the late Katherine Sherwood and Leon Trueheart. He slipped quietly
away from this life on July 3, 2019 at the age of 65.
Leon attended George Street Elementary, Booker T. Washington Junior
High School and Frederick Douglas Senior High School. In his earlier
years, Leon was a talented carpenter and an inventive entrepreneur. He
spent his remaining days preaching and teaching the Gospel of the
Kingdom to whomever would listen. His love of the Word of God grew
intensely and he was often noted to say that in comparison to our other
daily activities that this was taking the good portion. He had a tremen-
dous knowledge and love of music and practiced many years as a
martial artist. He was like a walking book and often conversed about
African American history, giving tidbits of information that many did
not know. Leon loved being around his family. He was a constant
sharer of wisdom and a great conversationalist to all who knew him.
Leon married Irene Brown on September 15, 1979 and they celebrated
39 years of marriage. From this union were born 5 children, Leon,
Shara, Daniel, Jonathan and Joshua Trueheart. He was also blessed to
have three other children, LaTonya Trueheart, LaShonya Trueheart
(deceased) and Dewayne Carter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter LaShonya
Trueheart, his granddaughter J ace Trueheart, and his brother Julius
Trueheart.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Irene; his children; daughters-
in-law, Khrystyna (Leon), Renee (Jonathan) and Tashana (Dewayne);
19 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 brothers-in-law, William,
Robert (Hazel) and Craig Brown; one uncle, James Reeves; 2 aunts,
Virginia Fuller (Frank) and Cecilia Brooks and many cousins and
friends.
