Leona(Lee)Garvin Bennett Byrd was born In Chesterfield County, S. C. on February 4, 1917 to Handy and Annie Garvin . She was one of 6 children all of her siblings preceded her in death .

She met and married Oscar(Jack)Bennett in 1933. From this union 9 children was born 5 girls and 4 boys: Florence(Florida Bell) , Elizabeth , Mary Lee, Mae Francis, Margaret Ann, Oscar Jr. (Joe Louis) and Stanley (Danny). She married William Byrd in 1968 he brought one son, Howard, to the marriage. Sadly William preceded her in death .

Lee l ived a happy and long life seeing 6 generations of family born . She was mainly known for her warm, friendly and generous nature all were welcome to her home and table. She was loved and appreciated by all because of her unselfish kindness. She was respected by everyone .

She leaves to mourn her daughter Elizabeth, her stepson Howard (Mille), many grandchildren, great and great - great grandchildren along with nieces, nephews and friends . She will be especially missed by her long time devoted friend David Moore.
