Leona ' s new life journey up the King ' s highway started back
when she was born December 25, 1931 to the late Leroy Smith
and Carrie Sewell-Smith.

Leona graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in June
of 1950 . She then enrolled into the New deficit Cortez Peters
Business School. She later worked in several printing industry
jobs before going to work for the federal government at the
Social Security Administration where she remained for 25 years
before retiring .

She married twice . After her first marriage dissolved, she met
and married the late James Person .

Leona had a passion for dancing and roller skating, but her
favorite pastime was going to the movies. She also loved to
travel. Whether it was a cruise or bus trip, she equally enjoyed
the experience. She was always stylish and pressed. She was a
loveable and compassionate person . She did not discriminate her
friendships by age, having many young friends as well as older
ones.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her only child, Richard Ford;
granddaughters, LaGia Ford, Michelle Windley, and Latarsha
Miller;two adopted granddaughters, Felicia Wright and Yolanda
Walker; a grandson/spiritual counselor Christopher Windley;
her great grands, Michael Williams, Marquise Harris, Ajee
Myers, Cornae Johnson , Christerson Windley, Krischelle Wind-
ley; three great great grands, Andrea Jones, Leah Shore and
Riley Harris; two devoted lifetime friends, Mr. William Jordan
and Juanita Mallory and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her grandson, Joshua Bessick departed this life two days after
her.
