Lewis Russell Jr., son of the late Lewis Russell Sr. and Agnes Russell,
was born on August 12, 1942 in Durham, North Carolina. He peacefully
departed this life on July 25,2019 in his sleep.
He graduated from Baltimore City College in Baltimore, Maryland. After
high school, he was employed by many companies in Baltimore includ-
ing Domino Sugar Company, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Maryland State
Office Building, and BaltimorelW ashington International Thurgood
Marshall Airport.
Lewis was an avid photographer and videographer, who enjoyed "people
watching." He was best known for having the latest and greatest R&B
music and for his extensive music catalog. He would often spend his
entire day off from work listening to his extensive music catalog on his
"state of the art" sound system. He taught his children and grandchildren
the importance of music and how to identify a remake from an original
song.
He was well known for his stylish clothes, hats, and "clean look." He .
loved Duke Basketball and the Baltimore Orioles. He was always known
for being cool under pressure and lived life on his own terms. He was one
of a kind and famous for saying "Everything is Cool!"
He was preceded in death by his four brothers and his children Lewis
Russell III, Renea Adams (Jack Adams), and Anthony "Tony" Russell.
Lewis leaves to mourn his mother Agnes Russell, wife Linda Russell, his
children Mary Arrington, Valerie Whitaker, Michele Johnson (Rick
Johnson), Yolanda Ogbolu (Michael Ogbolu), Niecy Gasque, Suellen
Gasque, Nathaniel Lamont Russell (Arkisha Russell), Anthony Russell
Sr., and his siblings Linda Y oung (Fred Young), Michael Allen, Ronald
McNeil, his childhood best friend, Clifford "Pea-sight" Maddox, and a
host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other family members.
