Lewis Thomas,the only childof the late Billy Thomas and Lucille Johnson, wenthome to be with his Lord and Savior on April 24, 2020.Lewiswas born on April 4, 1929 in Yazoo, Mississippiand received his educationin the Mississippi public school system. On July 20, 1951, he enlisted inthe United States Army. Whileserving his countryhe was wounded duringbattle in the Korean War, then honorably discharged on May 13, 1953.
Lewis was employed with Debaugh Construction Company as a diligent and committed heavy equipment operator until he retired. After his retirement, he enjoyed "hacking", also known today as Uber or Lyft.
Lewis also known as Tom met and fell in love with Margaret Monroe and they were married in 1976. From this union, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He found pride in being able to provide for his family and loved spending time with them, packing up the car and driving them on long distant trips to various places.
Lewis received the giftofsalvation and was baptized at the First United Churchof Jesus Christ on April 18, 1993 under the leadershipof the late Bishop Monroe R.Saunders Sr. In 2012, he joined Revival of the Heart Family Worship Ministries under the current leadershipofPastor's Ernesto and Karen Valdibieso. He enjoyed listening to classic gospel music, sermons from G. E. Patterson, Jimmy Swaggart, and going on spiritual retreats.
Lewis was neat, meticulous, and loved to keep his appearance spectacular. He had numerous hobbies such as fishing, watching westerns, building and repairing things around the house, and was an avid animal lover. Someofhis favorite foods included cornbread, sweets potatoes, hog mogs, chitterling and all typesofsweets, especially cookies.
Lewis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Warren; grandsons, Gerard Warren and Keith Jordan and he leaves to cherish his beloved wifeof44 years, MargaretThomas; Sons, Glenwood (Michelle) Warren Jr. and Michael (Terry) Warren; daughters, Kim Warren and Karen (Ernesto) Valdibieso. He also leaves behind12 grandchildren; Antione Mcguire, Renita Warren, Precious (Brian) Tally, Kenneth (Angel) Warren, Terrance Warren, Jonathan (Rhojon) Warren, Joshua Valdibieso, Noah Warren, Jeremiah Warren, Emmanuel Valdibieso, Grace Warren, Shaunte Davis, and Taylor Harrell; his aunt Thelma Johnson Taylor; Granddaughter-in-law Christina Jordan;15great-grandchildren; brother and sister in laws Reginald Monroe, Bernadine Monroe, Linda (Milton) Williams, Rose Nunn and a hostofnieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
