IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lillie B.
Liggons
July 31, 1932 – April 8, 2019
Lllie Bell Liggons, was born on July 31, 1932 in Baltimore,
Maryland to the late Lucius and Lizzie Anthony. She departed this life
peacefully as she entered her eternal rest on Monday, April 8, 2019. She
was preceded in death by three children, Eugene Thomas, Jr., Vashti
Thomas - Chapman, and Sylvia Fields; one grandson, Gordon Payne;
and sister, Mildred Brogden.
Lillie, affectionately known as "Ham", received her education in
the Baltimore City Public School System. Upon completion, she
became employed with the Federal Government, and worked for
Shepherd Pratt Hospital most of her adult life. She accepted Christ as
her Personal Savior at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church under the
leadership of its second pastor, the late Rev. Boykin Jesse. She began her
walk with the Lord at an early age by attending Sunday School regularly
and making the choice to become a Missionary for the Kingdom. On
May 6, 2007, she transferred her membership to the Soul Harvest Church
and Ministries under the leadership of its founder and pastor, her
nephew, Pastor Merrill R. Griffin. Lillie was one of the first two members
to join this branch of Zion. She served faithfully until her health
prevented her from attending regularly.
She met and married the late Eugene Thomas, Sr. on June 11,
1948, and from that union, five children were born. Her and Gene
remained happily married until his passing. Later she met and married
the late, Robert Liggons, in 1980. She was truly a loveable person and
sincerely loved by all who knew her. She held a special love for all of
her nieces & nephews, resulting in her becoming one of their favorite
aunties. She had a passion for cooking and sewing; and at any moment,
she would have a pot on the stove cooking something or a needle in her
hand sewing one of her creations. Ham had a welcoming spirit and
everyone felt like family upon entering her home.
She leaves to cherish her most memorable memories: her
and devoted daughters, Deborah Thomas and Tara (Calvin)
Robinson;. 0 stepchildren, Robert Liggons and Frances Liggons; nine
