Obituary

Lizzie Mdae Keith, the daughter of the late Alberta and Willard Poole departed this life January 7, 2009 after a lenghthy illness at Sinai Hospital. Lizzie was born, April 26, 1923 and grew up in Toccoa, georgia with her brother, Joe Belle Crawford. She was educated in the Georgia public school system, where she graduated. She met and married her high school sweetheart, John Wesley Keith in 1941. They relocated to North Carolina where their first child, Joel also known as Sonny was born. John trained as a welder and moved his family to Maryland, seeking a career in the shipbuilding industry. Lizzie decided to improve her sewing skills by taking a class at night school. This skill came in handy for making clothes for the 7 children that followed, Vernon, Edith, Gilda, Phyllis, Anthony, Brian and Cheryl. Lizzie was loving, caring, friendly and an easy going person. she had a natural gift for baking, gardening, dancing and caring for her family. In the 60's she and her friends formed a group called the Cornetts. She served as secretary of the group. The group was well known for their cabarets, where local radio personalities would come and perform. She jioned the New Shiloh Baptist Church in the late 90's. She attended church regarlarly until her health began to fail. Lizzie leaves to cheriah her memory; 3 devoted, loving chuildren, Phyllis, Anthony, and Cheryl, 1 brother, Joe, 1 sister-in-law, Barbara, 3 daughters-in-law Barbara, Gabbvriele and Thomasteana, 25 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.
