Lofton G. McLean, son of theo f the late Jerry and Effie McLean, was born in Dunn, North Carolina on May 23, 1925. He peacefully departed this life after a lengthy illness on October 25, 2006. Lofton received his education in North Carolina. At the age of neneteen he joined the United States Navy. He was employed by Esskay Meates for many years. He was later employed by Sam's Meat Market in Baltimore until he retired. In 1926, Lofton LA met and married Beatrice Ray in Dillon, South Carolina. Together, they moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1951. From this union came eight beautiful children. Lofton will be remembered for his caring and listening ear to his friends and how if you were hungry he could make a meal out of anything. And boy could he cook. Lofton leaves to rejoice in his memory: four sons, Lofton Jr., Gerard, Warren and Randy; four daughters, Virgie,Shirley, Mary Brown and Oleatia Key; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Corbet; two sons-in-law, four daughters-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.
