IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lorene W.
Parker
December 20, 1938 – May 3, 2018
Lorene Whitley Parker was born on December 20, 1938 in
Wilson, North Carolina to the late Lorwenia Taylor and William
Ransom Whitley Sf. where she grew up and attended school.
She graduated from Darden High School and went on to attend
nursing school. Lorene completed her nursing career at Wilson
Technical School in 1974. She started her career in Nursing
working at Wilson Memorial Hospital where she was the head
nurse on the 5th floor unit for many years. While into her career
she married her first love Leon Kirby Sr. who preceded her in
death. Two children Leon Kirby Jr. and Lisa were born out
of this union.
Lorene moved to Baltimore and continued to pursue her nursing
career working at various facilities. She loved her job and caring
for her patients. Lorene would even go in on her days off because
she was a dedicated worker. She has received numerous
recognitions and awards for her hard work and dedication.
Lorene retired from Ravenwood Nursing Facility and
15 years later retired again from Alice Manor Nursing Home.
Lorene loved her two grandkids and enjoyed spending time
with them. Each and everyday she would sit and wait patiently
for them to come home from school. She would be so excited to
hear about how their day was when they would arrive home.
She was so happy and looking forward to McKenzie's graduation
which will be held on June 2nd.
Lorene had numerous friends wherever she went and had a heart
of gold.
The Lord called Lorene home on May 3, 2018 after a lengthy illness.
Naturally, her family and friends are deeply saddened by her sudden
departure.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two children, Leon Kirby Jr.
and Lisa Kirby; two grandchildren, McKenzie Keller and Mekhi Kirby;
two sisters, Susie Jones and Marthalene Taylor both of Wilson, North
Carolina; a dear friend, Sara Brown and a host of nieces, nephews and
other relatives and friends.
