Obituary

Lorraine Marie Watkins Everett, eldest daughter of Raymond and Thelma Watkins, was born January 25, 1938. Lorraine, affectionately known as ''Raine, '' was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and the Apex School of Cosmetology. Lorraine worked many jobs, however, October 7, 1968 she gained employement at Joseph H. Lockerman Elementary School #100 located at 200 N. Mount Street. Joseph Lockerman moved to 301 Pilaski Street and became Lockeman Bundy #261, where she was employed for seventeen years. ''My years of service has been mostly happy and a rewardidng experiene teaching and reinforcing skills. I've always wanted to work with children. I hope somewhere along the way, I have inspired someone in my years of service, because education is so very important.'' During the early years of her adult life she met a young man named Walter Everett. Lorraine was married to Walter Mouse on January 26, 1957. This union lasted fifty years. Now there were no biological children from this union, however, Lorraine and Walter raised over seventeen children nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and children she adopted from school. Lorraine's religious journey started at Shiloh Christian Community Church under the late Revered George W. Baynard. In 1997, Lorraine joined The Living Word Apostolic Church, under the leadership of District Elder Robert Campbell, Pastor. She loved her church and loved being active in church: singing, plays, or just being called on to be part of the service. Her relationship with the Lord became intense, and that is what sustained her through the years. Raine had a special gift of creativity, arts and crafts and with this gift she used it to make the world better. Lorraaine would do arts and crafts with anyone. She taught it for a brief time at the Senior Center she atended. People would open up and a dialogue would start and before you knew it Raine had a new friend. Her nieces would spend time making jewerly, doing art work, making clothes and even inventing their own games to play. Lorraine retired from the Baltimore City Public School System in June of 2000 to focus on her family, and serving her Savior. On July 27, 2007 early in the morning the Lord summoned for Lorraine Marie Everett. She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Walter Everett; mother Thelma Watkins; three sisters, Marian Hollis, Darlene Holley and Carolyn Allen; brother, Charles Watkins; sister-in-law, Margaret Everett; uncle, George Watkins; aunts, Geraldine Patterson; cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
