Obituary

Louella Fonce was born on December 21, 1934 in Clarendon County,
South Carolina to the late Hattie James & Richard Carter. She was called
to her heavenly home to reside with the Lord on Saturday, February 6, 2016.

Louella was raised in Davis Station, South Carolina. After graduating
from Elementary School, each day Louella had to walk nearly 6 miles
one-way to attend the one High School in Summerton, South Carolina
called Scott's Branch. Her high school became famous in the history of
nation because it played a key role in the 1954 Supreme Court Case (Brown
Versus the Board of Education), which outlawed segregation in public
schools. Walking those 6 miles each day even during the winter months,
was no easy task and serves as a testament to her determination to succeed!
Louella graduated in 1952.

After graduating, Louella moved to the City of Baltimore where she met
and married the love of her life, Mr. James Henry Fonce for almost 60 years.
God blessed their union with 6 wonderful children whom they loved dearly.

Louella was a God fearing, righteous, humble, kind and loving person.
She had a beautiful and sweet spirit, always willing to give of herself never
complaining. She was just simply filled with the love of God!

Louella gave her life to Christ, at a very early age at Spring Hill Church
in South Carolina. She continued her spiritual journey by joining Jones
Tabernacle Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD where she was an active
member for many years. Louella later joined New Union Baptist Church
under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Charles E. Savage where she was a
faithful member.

Louella was employed working various roles in a factory for many years
before becoming a Domestic Goddess. She was known for stylish suits,
fancy hats and preparing a meal not to be forgotten. Most all she enjoyed
loving and spending time with all of her grandchildren.
