Louis Donald Tibbs, affectionately known as "Brother" and Lou for short- son of the late Frank Tibbs and Cecilia Shaw, was born on February 24,1938 in Baltimore, Maryland. He went to be with the Lord on June 16,2014 after a lengthy illness. He was educated in Baltimore City and found his first love, "mu- sic" while attending Dunbar Junior High School in 1950 - 1953, were he played the clarinet in the first Dunbar Junior/Senior Band and went on to play with the Douglas High School Bandfrom 1953 - 1956. After graduation, he served in the Armed Forces from 1957 - 1965, were he was part of the J01st Airborne Division Field Band, 331st Army Reserve Band and the 242nd Strategic Air Command Band. After re- ceiving an honorable discharge, he attended the prestigious Julliard School of Music and studied music arranging and composition from The Berkley School of Music in Boston. Upon returning to Baltimore, he attended and graduated from the Community College of Baltimore with an AA degree, while performing with MAlYY local Jazz and Rock Bands on the legendary "Avenue" and "The Block". He was the First Place winner in the National Veterans Creative Arts Competition, a compose/arranger and Saxophonist with "The Wisemen ", Hampton Williams Ultra Sounds Band and Gethsemane Bible Baptist Church where he was also a Deacon. Almost Forty-one years ago, he fell in love and married Jackie The- resa Robinson, the love of his life. He was very particular about his wife and passionately overprotective of her. Soon after his union with Jackie, he received Christ as his personal savor. Lou (Brother) was loved by all and made numerous friends wherev- er he went. He will be tremendously missed by each and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He leaves to mourn: the love of his life, best friend and wife of almost 4J years, Jackie Tibbs; two sons, Guy Tibbs and Eric Tibbs; five daughters, Deirdre Tibbs, Terri Battle/Nathaniel), Kimberly Brown (Kenneth), Jackie Clayborn/Mickey), and Robin Robinson(Arnold;, two brothers, Robert Shaw and Warren Shaw(Katrina); two sisters, Ernestine Prokop( deceased), and Flora Walker; fourteen grandchil- dren, three great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
